Migrant Education Program, Title I, Part C

The Migrant Education Program is a national program that annually provides supplemental education and support services to approximately 500,000 eligible migrant children nationwide to help them overcome educational disruptions and disadvantages, which result from their mobile lifestyle. The goal of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma (or complete a HSED) that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment. The Migrant Education Program grew out of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act 1965 as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), which was signed into law on January 8, 2002, contains the major statutory provisions that apply to the Migrant Educational Program. The new law supersedes the previous law.
